Reiki
Reiki means "spiritual life force energy". It is made up of two root words Rei (spiritual) and Ki (life force energy). The reintroduction of this technique was brought to us by Dr. Mikao Usui during the early 1900's. At the time Dr. Usui was a practicing monk, while on his journey on Mount Kuruma in Japan, he was gifted with the natural system of healing we call Reiki.
Reiki, a Japanese technique experienced through the "laying on of hands". Reiki facilitates the body in the healing process, by reducing pain, restoring balance and energy. It also relieves stress, anxiety and enhances the immune system. Reiki compliments any medical or recovery treatment offered by doctors. It also speeds up the recovery from chemotherapy treatments and is beneficial in palliative care.
A Reiki treatment is given by an attuned Reiki healer transferring energy through the palms of their hands to the meridian pathways and the chakras of the client. The energy is received by the healer from the universe. The client is comfortably positioned either seated or laying on a treatment table and fully clothed. There are some hand positions where the healer has to make contact with the body in an un-intrusive manner. The session will feel relaxing and peaceful to the client.
